Database Developer Oracle to PostgreSQL (AlloyDB) Migration

Role Overview:
As a Database Developer, you will play a critical role in migrating enterprise data systems from Oracle to PostgreSQL (AlloyDB). This involves rewriting complex PL/SQL logic into PL/pgSQL, optimizing performance, and ensuring high-quality data validation during migration.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Migration & Transformation
Migrate Oracle databases to PostgreSQL (AlloyDB) using manual and automated processes.
Rewrite stored procedures, packages, triggers, and SQL logic from PL/SQL to PL/pgSQL.
Recreate schemas, constraints, indexes, views, and DB objects in PostgreSQL.
Performance Optimization
Implement table partitioning, advanced indexing, and query optimization.
Use tools like EXPLAIN ANALYZE, pg_stat_statements, and cloud monitoring for performance tuning.
Collaborate with DevOps for DB provisioning and deployments.
Data Validation & Quality Assurance
Perform source-to-target data comparison between Oracle and AlloyDB.
Develop scripts for data validation, reconciliation, and transformation checks.
Handle large datasets with bulk data processing and archival validation.
Collaboration & Documentation
Work with BAs, Tech Leads, and QA to translate Oracle business logic into scalable PostgreSQL logic.
Document migration steps, schema differences, and rollback strategies.
Required Skills & Experience:
8+ years in database development and migration (Oracle & PostgreSQL).
Expertise in PL/SQL & PL/pgSQL (procedures, triggers, performance tuning).
Strong experience in partitioning, indexing, and schema conversion.
Hands-on in data validation, reconciliation, and benchmarking.
Experience in Agile, version control, and collaborative development.
Good to Have:
Experience with cloud environments (AlloyDB, Aurora, GCP, AWS).
Exposure to Python/Shell scripting for automation and validation.
Knowledge of BTEQ-to-RSQL conversion or legacy script transformations.
Personal Attributes:
