Database Migration Consultant (10+ Years of Experience)

• Evaluate on-premise database environments to determine migration feasibility, identifying potential challenges and opportunities for optimization.
• Develop comprehensive migration plans utilizing rehost and replatform strategies, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
• Extensive experience migrating large-scale databases (exceeding 10TB) across heterogeneous/homogeneous database engines, with a strong emphasis on migrations from Oracle to Oracle and Oracle to PostgreSQL on AWS cloud.

• MySQL to MySQL and MySQL to PostgreSQL on AWS 
• Enhance and optimize PL/SQL code to facilitate efficient database migrations from source to target systems across heterogeneous platforms.
• Identify and resolve complex issues and corner scenarios encountered during the migration process, providing automated solutions for repeatable problems.
• Consult on the design and implementation of AWS RDS and Aurora architectures, ensuring optimal configurations tailored to customer environments.
• Leverage Oracle technologies such as Recovery Manager (RMAN), transportable tablespaces, and GoldenGate to migrate Oracle databases to AWS cloud, including real-time data replication and backup/restore operations.
• Analyze complex, distributed production deployments and provide recommendations to optimize database performance through techniques like performance optimization, query tuning, and database parameter tuning.
• Utilize AWS database migration tools and services, including DMS, to streamline and automate the migration process, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
• Design and implement robust, scalable, and highly available database architectures on AWS cloud, optimized for performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing expertise and knowledge transfer, leveraging excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Proven expertise in PL/SQL and good to knowledge on PL/pgSQL, and T-SQL programming languages.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, or Python.
• Good understanding of AWS services, including RDS, Aurora, Schema Conversion Tool (SCT), and Database Migration Service (DMS).
• Familiarity with database administration tasks, including backup/restore, replication, and data integration processes.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• AWS Solutions Architect Associate Certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Experience with Oracle Exadata platform is a plus.

Cloud Infrastructure and Automation:

• Proficiency in implementing and managing database infrastructure on AWS, using services like Amazon RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, and related tools.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like AWS CDK, CloudFormation, and Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of database resources.
• Familiarity with cloud-native monitoring and alerting tools to ensure the health and performance of database environments.

Consulting and Project Management:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., application developers, architects, DevOps) to design and implement database migration and modernization strategies.
• Provide technical guidance and training to stakeholders on best practices, tools, and techniques for database management and migration.
